Evening all.

Couldn't think of a better word to use than loose but here we go...!

The central locking on one of our Mavericks regularly decides that its going to lock all doors whenever the front driver or passenger side doors are closed with decent force. Closing the doors lightly avoids this but isn't always practical.

Also, on occasion when unlocking the drivers door, all other doors will immediately relock as soon as I've turned the key, leaving only the drivers door unlocked.

The main risk here for us is leaving the keys in the ignition then slamming the door and the vehicle locking us out.

Any ideas on where to start or what could be loose etc etc?

Cheers,
Sean.

Standard 1994/5 mavericks had central locking, BUT relied on the driver's door being locked with a key, or from inside.

Unless remote central locking has been added later, like I did to mine, 1995 Mav, this entailed fitting a solenoid to the door catch so activate this solenoid only, by remote control, did the same as locking the driver's door with a key.

So if yours is unmodified, then the drivers door cannot lock itself.:nenau

The problem you have in my opinion, is a loose connection on the switch in the driver's door mechanism which when falsely activated will cause the other doors to lock... BUT not the driver's door.
I hope this is what you have noticed.

It could also be a chafed wire in the loom, but either way your answer lies in the drivers door.:thumbs

If ever you find the driver's door locked without the key, then ignore all my info.

PS... mine sometimes does it too, in my garage, sometimes I am 10 feet from it, but the Drivers door is NEVER locked by this action, otherwise it would be my remote central locking.
When you find the actual fault, let me know..

Good luck, best regards,
Rustic
