Right I've been pushing my luck recently knowing the temperature has been dropping close to single figures but I was determined to use the last of my WVO that I had in the shed, saying that though I was a little worried the other day as I noticed a film on the top of the oil in the drum and the oil has become quite sludgy.

This morning I went out and tried to start the car and it didn't want it at all, I let the plugs warm up a few times but still just didn't want to start. I've now also flattened my battery :doh, I was running late for work as it was so all I had time to do was the kettle of water trick on the fuel lines and fuel filter but it still wasn't enough.

When I get home, I need to get the battery on charge and then I've had a bit of an idea, I was going to buy some SVO, warm it up to about 80 degrees put it in the tank, slosh it around a bit by shaking the car and then put some Diesel in on top, hopefully then when it's going, I'm going to give it a few full tanks of Diesel just to clean things out

Any more ideas?

I'd slap some diesel in there just to get things running, quick way to force her to start would be to whip off the fuel filter, tip it out and refill with diesel, reattach and prime up. Should fire on that.

You beauty!!!!! I wouldn't have thought of that

as said chuck some diesel in, give the truck a good rock from side to side to mix it up, mine has done this before and i did this and never had to remove the fuel filter, just turned it a few times and it went over, watch the primer on the fuel pump get sucked down tho :lol

Probably find that the block will have 'warmed' enough during the day for it to cough back to life as it is, I've had a few near misses last winter where my WVO/diesel ratio was a bit out. Luckily the battery is fairly recent so it's managed to splutter to life each time. Have occasionally obliterated the entire street in a big smoky cloud during this sort of fun though!

Start with diesel in the tank, and maybe if it easy enough to get there, a hairdryer aimed at the filter area to warm the oil a little. 'Mainlining' diesel in the filter as a last resort.

If the battery has been drained this morning, can you jump it from a running motor so you don't drain it again? (or wait for it to recharge)

Thank's for all the replies guys :D, mates coming round in a bit with his Transit to give me a jump start, going to give the fuel filter a good blast with the heat gun on an extension lead when I get back too, really really don't want to be messing round with Diesel in the Fuel Filter tonight although if I have to I will :bow

careful with the heatgun on the filter, you don't want to melt the rubber seal :doh

All sorted :D, took it for a good run and whacked some Diesel in :D

Thanks Guys

Glad she's back in business, always worth keeping a small jerry can of diesel on standby in the shed for the odd winter morning.
