I have a Nissan Xtrail sport with the spoiler at the back of the roof. I would like to know if it is safe to put the car through a car wash. Normally I do it all by hand but just occasionally I could do with a quick fix.
Any advice would be most welcome

kindest regards

having worked in a petrol station years ago i would never put a car thru a car wash especially with a spoiler. used to get all sorts of trim lying on the ground at the end of the day.

We've used the places like Emo etc, where there is a decent, supervised carwash without problem.

I love EMO car washes, but my Nav is too big:(

Also it's a pickup and would probably fill up:lol

Once put brand new merc 280 through car wash for manager at work, asked if any trim needed taping down only to be told no,trouble was it whipped merc badge off top of rad and damaged car all way down.Good claim by firm from EMO.felt a bit sheepish telling gaffer after.

take it to your local hand carwash...

I have'nt used a car wash for years due to the fact I've had 2 door mirrors pulled from their fixing points (managed to clip them back) but what made up my mind was when the top roller/brushes fixing sheared & the thing landed on the roof of the car that I was in:eek::eek::eek:that got the old heart racing a bit:lol & the car was classed as a wright off:augiebut it was'nt my car but a customers who had brought their car in for a service & the boss wanted it through the wash::augie:doh

Easy got out & went & got the boss:thumb2 the car wash was owned by the garage I worked for IIRC it killed about 4 other cars before they had the thing replaced:augie

SEE cars should only be washed just before you sell them:cool:
Anything else is a complete waste of time "OFFICIAL":lol

you should go with a hand carwash or do it yourself it is the best and safest option. machine carwashes have a bad rep for damaging cars.
