Hi,

I have heard this a few times over the last few days but not from any trusted sources and just wondered if anyone knows if there is any truth to it.
If the MET Office declares a Red Alert Warning in your area then you are not insured if you drive it in that area. If ill fate befalls it whilst parked then you are insured but driving is a no no.

I read this somewhere but it turned out to be an internet myth. :thumb2

The only proper answer here should be: check your insurance small print...

With our car insurance (full cover, on the family car, one of the larger insurance companies in Belgium) we are not insured when participating in motor sport events, when drunk, when offroad, or when speeding. Makes sense. Nothing is said about winter weather. Earthquakes though, are not covered either.

Rest assured that if the insurers can get out of a claim on any issue they will, Rick

Of course Pereclaar and Solarman are correct in what they say. I guess the best solution is to phone your insurance and get their answer in writing perhaps by email. Trouble is once you have asked the question both parties are aware of the question.

Cheers folks, thought it sounded a little odd.
I agree with you Perelaar, checking your insurance documents could be a good idea especially I imagine if you are running a sports or classic policy. As Rick rightly says if they can get out of paying they will. And in some cases I believe rightly so.
