For the last year or so, I have an occasional hesitation on my 1999 T2, It's not huge, you tend to sense it more than feel it. I can't make it happen, when I try, but it does do it fairly often. When it starts doing it, it will keep it up for a week or so, then go back to normal.

It seems to happen when you are neither accelerating, or slowing down, and just sitting at about 2k to 2.5K RPM, or go from that, and accelerate gently.

No lights or error codes, and the car runs fine other than this small but noticeable little hesitation.

Does it on full Diesel, and up to 50/50 mix with clean veg, hot or cold weather. Has done it even after new fuel filter.

I think I read on here once before that that the CPS can cause this.

Questions are...

Can it be checked with out changing it?
Does a 1999 2.7Tdi had a CPS?
where is it?
Where is best to source one, if it is this?

Yes got one,

On top of bell housing , at back of engine

EBay where I got mine,

doubt it is the CPS as these tend to either work or do not work, some times heat related, work when cold fail when hot, but if engine still running goes into limp mode, but if shut down will not start till cold again, much more likely is the MAF, Rick

Cheers for the replies, I guess I will have to just wait and see what shows up when it finally packs up.

I will have a look at the MAF, I have a MAF Amp, and when I carried out the tests fitting that, it was giving readings that according to Ray, implied it was in very good condition. Might be worth giving it a squirt of contact cleaner though.

I might try running with the MAF amp off for a few days, see if that makes any difference though.

just out of interest if you want to look, if you lay down on floor under drivers side, reach around :naughty the gearbox and at the front on the top you will feel it with a lone wire coming off it. :thumb2

On my earlier tdi the cps is on the front of the engine below alternator belts but I do know later models were at the back near bell housing. Just be aware just in case you wanted to do anything with it.
From what I remember they are a sealed unit so contact cleaner may do not help. I've heard of people removing them and cleaning the face.

When mine was on its way out I noticed it running rough on tick over or even stalling but only once engine was warm.

Clive is yours Bosch or Zexell? as I have "some" spares, Rick
