OK then who's a member?

I have been a member on and off for donkeys years just to use 'CL' sites, but recently I have been to a few rally type meets and enjoyed them. I like the 'just turn up' style rather than having to book in advance like other clubs.

I was thinking we could sort of 'hijack' another rally so that a few of us from here could meet up? :nenau

We are...

We are using a CS up in Anglesey for Christmas/New Year this year. Hoping for some snow to test the T2.

We only use the CS sites to be honest, as we don't do crowded sites if we can help it. We spent Easter on a site down near Rye, with just one other van in the opposite corner.

The only trouble we have far as meeting up goes, is all summer we are doing Ferret PR events, and then when we are not doing them, we like to camp at steam fairs. But if it was a weekend we were free, it would be fun to meet up with some of the members on here.

I am too :lol I don't tin tent and I'm not camp but I did join via the RAC in order to get trailer recovery for the boat :clap

i find the camping and caravan club sites to be nicer, toilets and showers seem to be cleaner and well maintained

nope, tried em, didnt like C&CC, found biased to tenting.

Been on the dark side, Caravan Club for 17 years mainly
for the Certified Location network and also for centre
rallies. In past used their Club sites which are fab but can
be expensive at peak times.

biased to tenting? i've not seen anyone in a tent for years, sad really but peple just don't seem to go camping anymore.

Caravan Club for me too for more years than I can remember. Also use cl's mainly.

Personaly can't stand that bearded tw@t the C&CC has as a president , especially after his anti 4x4 rants a few years back.

I've been with caravan club now for 4years and only use cls with out electric hock cost between £3 & £6 a nite can't be sad bout that buy the way we have a 110ah battery a 80w solar panel run lights all r led and have a 19" led 12v lcd tv we have been away for 2weeks and in that time watched tv for 5hrs a nite and battery never went flat

Takiing a differnt approach to this: There are a lot of smaller caravan clubs ERF, Cavalier, Land Rover etc. Could we, as a club, become and exempt organisation and so hold our own rallies when and where we like? Would enough people be interested for me to approach Bat21 first and then look into it?

We were a member of the C&CC many many years ago, I used it when relocating as accommodation when I went to work and I was looking for a new place to live. The guy said be discreet ie don't let anybody see you in a suit carrying a brief case though.:augie. These were the days that we used an Austin Ambassador as a tow car.
If I recall it was £1 per night. Well the company gave me a relocation budget, and I wasn't going to waste it on hotels and things. What was left ... I could keep.:thumb2

We did use several sites whilst on holiday, like Brean sands near to Weston Super Mud, a quick shimmy over the wall, a 6 foot drop and we were on the beach. The next time we took a ladder :lol:lol

Been a member for many years. Use the hidaways and cl's mostly. They also get me a good deal on my motorhome insurance.

Good idea , same as CC local centres ,would be handy for laneing weekends.

It sounds good, I have no idea how you do it, but the idea sounds good.

Doesn't the C&CC have a 4x4 special interest section?

We are in the caravan club, have been for some years, we have no problems with them, nice and clean and well run sites

well, I don't know how long ago all this tent bias was, but it's something i have never seen or heard of in many years association with the CCC. I do a lot of work at a couple of places that hold rallies for both the CCC and the CC (among other groups) and having sat back and watched both as a bystander the CCC usually have a lot less tents as the CC tent to take along a fair few pup tents! and the CC a lot less caravans as their rallies seem to be lot smaller.

I have also never heard of them having 'tent only' sites, but! In planning law you don't need any permission at all to have as many tents as you like. So inevitably there are a few camping sites in places where the local authorities would not grant permission for caravans. The 'five pitch' rule applies to tents only.

My personal preference for the CCC is based on two things.

1. turn up at rallies 'as and when' rather than booking in advance

2. I have never been a member of the CC

Anyway, i never intended this to be a contest between these two organisations merely gauging opinion regarding attending a rally as members of this club.

I will find out a bit more about becoming an 'exempt organisation' when i get time and let you all know :thumb2
