I found it impossible to obtain the correct pins for my model year, so I decided to buy the ones from eBay for '98 onwards and hope they were close. At least I'd be able to use the rubber boots.

It turns out that they are identical in every respect except that they are 1cm shorter. The old ones are 7cm and the new ones are 6cm. The boots are identical so I can use those.

So, I have to decide whether it is better to use the new ones or to clean up the old ones and re-use those. The old ones are a bit rusty at the 'top' end, but are clean where they fit into the caliper carrier.

Does anyone think the slight difference in length is crucial? I asked the wife, but you know how it is...

caliper guide pins

hi steveloft.
some members have had sticking calipers due to the muck that gets behind the pins, so could this be a modifacation by nissan to aleveate the problem .
as regards using the new shorter pins once every thing is bolted down.
all should be ok as its all locked together .

Clean the old ones up and refit them untill you can confirm .

BUT I WOULD SEEK ADVISE FROM NISSAN . UNLESS SOMEONE ON HERE CAN HELP .

Hi Steve, I also had a problem with the caliper guide pins, seized on both sides , picked up on recent mot. Soaked all night with WD40, but would not move in the morning. No local motor factors had these listed as spares , so contacted nissan telford. They said that this part is only available as part of the whole caliper at £247 PER SIDE + vat!! Needless to say I re-doubled my efforts and managed to free the pins, but took most of the day. Cleaned and greased and now as good as new.But I suppose they are available from breakers....anyway well done!
