Hello everyone,

My Maverick lost all electrical power to the lights/horn/indicators/windows/dashboard etc. No blown fuses, but tracked it down to a wire link near the battery. It seems someone in the past has made up a rather thin wire link between the two spade connectors of a wiring loom socket and this has finally melted.
I wonder if anyone knows what the purpose of this socket is? It is located at top side of the battery, in a group of three connectors and is the one lowest down, the higher up one of which I have identified as M44 and M808 on the (cd)wiring diagram.

I am about to fit it with a new wire, but thought i'd ask if there was any known issues with this. :?

if we are talking about the same link on a bracket near the water bottles then its a fusible link used instead of heavy duty fuses

Thanks for the reply. The link is on the left between the battery and the coolant bottle. I replaced it with another of similar wire and now have the power back on and the Maverick happy so far...

CAUTION
Be aware that if you replace a fusable link, then the new one must be the same rating.

Why did the first link blow, this must have been a short circuit some where, if you dropped a spanner some where, fine but if it went once, it will go again.
If you put a different link in say, some heavy duty wire, then it may have a greater current capacity than the original one and cause something else to go with more serious consequences.
Also if you replace with standard wire, it may not be self extinguishing material and may cause a fire.
Replace with a like for like replacement, if you don't know what caused it, buy 2.

hope this helps, best regards, Rustic
