The Mavs MOT is due on the 22nd, I am debating whether to stick it through another. :nenau

I think it will pass after a few easy issues are fixed. Like blown bulbs and change a shock rubber bush.

It's always felt underpowered, Seems mainly 4th and 6th. I've really noticed it after driving my dads T2 which is a racecar compared to mine. I cleaned the Hitachi MAF today, Maybe helped a bit but still struggles on hills.

The main problem is for the past year or so when I've giving it some up hills it smells like hot burning. I've sort of ignored it for a while but thought I might try and look into it before trying for a MOT.

Originally I thought belts but I replaced them, Hard to tell when I first put them on if it helped. But it's bad.

Any ideas?? Maybe clutch??

Give it a good look over mate and give it a realistic harsh critique. You've been around these motors enough to know what's good and what's not.

As for burning smell and being down on power, that could be a few different things, those Zexel pumps are known for being a bit weak compared to the Bosch, never experienced anything like that on my Maverick though.

Clutch fits the symptoms I suppose, have you done the 5th gear dump the clutch trick yet? Have you noticed that it slips?

I've got a video somewhere of my Terrano when I did the dump the clutch trick and it sounded awful  Deffo confirmed that my clutch was foobared though, I'll upload it if I find it :thumb2

Not done the 5th gear drop test yet, Will get onto that tomorrow. The clutch pedal is pretty high.

I know the welds on the clutch pedal are broken too, Plus probably the bush. Never got around to fixing it :lol

Get that sorted first!!! I had that happen in my Maverick, pics on the forum somewhere.

Could be exagerating the problem you have
