Help just put new shocks plus new springs in lwb terrano as she was hittin down verry hard on small bumps. Back drivers side mostly .Took it for a run an she is still the same .Anyone got any ideas please.....

you got new shock bushes on there too? by hard, do you mean the shocks or something??

Shock bushes ? By hard i mean if you go over a small bump or even a street ramp at any speed the rear end on drivers side hits down hard as if their is no suspension their . Even looking at the back of her when stationary seems a little lower on that side .Is their something that i am missing .

can you so some pics?

there are a few other member in Ireland.. so maybe they could pop over

check your drop links both backs ,

make sure the spring is seated right and the dampers are good.

shock bushes...the rubber bits at the top and bottom. as for hitting hard i see what you mean, thats worrying if you have just put new springs and shocks on! should be hardly any movement over small bumps like those you describe.

are the rear springs different lengths, ie driver side is slightly longer, :nenau:doh

Hi just got under an noticed that the stabaliser on the side that is lower the bushing or whatever you call it at the top is knackered ...would this be the cause of my prob .Put a jack under it and gave it a little lift an it did rise the yoke .. If this is the case what do i order ??

new drop links from millners

but if you can post a pic just to make sure

Have you checked for level yet.
Front and back side to side while parked on the level.

still in trouble . A guy at work who is a mechanic suggested that i tighten one of the steel rods that run from the middle of the truck to the front says it might level the yoke up but havin laid under her for a considerable time today i am not so sure I just measured from the top of the tyre to the wheel arch just now and their was 3 inches difference in the back and nearly 2 inshes in the front . So if you r standing looking straight on you can see that she in laying down on drivers side .. Might have to go to my Nissan garage an mortgage the house ...

ok its the torsion bars that is

we need you to park up on level ground and measure (in inches) the height from floor to top inside edge of wheel arch. on all 4 wheels and list them here

then we can see where the problem lies

its an easy fix though:thumbs

Ok starting at the back drivers side 32 ins- front drivers side 30 1/2 back passengers side 32 1/2-front 32 1/2 Hope this helps Looks a lot more when lookin straight on .

ok then
so its the drivers side torsion bar you need to tweak

underneath the truck about half way allong you will see the end of the bar with the adjuster

loosen the top nut , then wind down the bottom nut . you will need around 4 full turns, a marker pen will help you count.

do that tighten top nut back up , as this locks it then measure again and take for a short drive.

repeat above to get it exact

ideally you want 1/2 inch lower at the front but equal side to side

but once you have done it once , its easy to work out and tweak exactly
