Had a small worry the other day,car not warm, temperature climbing.Stopped at a local garage on way to work and found a brown gunge blocking the rad cap pipe/top of rad.He unblocked this got some coolant in and ok.Gunge has started building up again. He suggested a clean out under pressure(think he meant high pressure washer).Had the head rebuilt and got a lower engine(150 000kms) around about a year ago (perhaps longer) and has been good.Anybody got any ideas on this as it's not the moment for major upsets:eek::doh:confused::bow

Follow the procedure for flushing and refilling the coolant and then you'll know. As I recall there's one bit of the flushing that's a pig to do.

Have to be a garage job,too busy working,fingers crossed,thanks for the reply:thumbs

Have you got any gunk round oil filler cap inside resembling mayonnaise

Clive this is what happens when you do not have the right anti freeze/corrosion inhibitor in the system, you have Ali,copper, cast iron, steel and brass with an electrolyte of water which makes a battery, I would recommend a proprietary cooling system flushing agent, once used you must make sure all of it is removed, this can involve many flushings, as many as 20, then refill with the correct coolant mix, do NOT use any kind of high pressure water jet or flushing system, of course you could have a leaking head gasket, Rick

Do you know if any rad weld or Kseal has been added to help stop any radiator leaks?
