Broken Passengers Side Door Handle

As you can see my thread is knackered and my handle keeps dropping off

Bigger screw or is there an easier way of fixing this that I've overlooked?

No canny do, has to be attached when the door card is on so no access to the rear to hold nut in place

No your welder will blast that to bits, just get a body self tapper a little bigger than the hole, I must have dozens in my bins, if you cannot find one, let me know and I will look, Rick

Or put a rivnut in there, that would be my option.

Get strip of metal rivit or bolt it in place, drill and tap that to suit bolt. Or weld a nut to the back of a piece of steel, then attach that with rivit or nut & bolt.

Riv nut or nut sert would be my first option.
