Just back from an awesome day out again with Team Wales
Up the high side of Cadir Idris north Wales in what was left of the snow and in torrential rain
1st casualty was our mate's V8 disco, we were on a tricky rock clime when in a moment of exuberance he got a bit of air :clap and then landed on his front diff Goosed diff spilt it's life blood closely followed by him getting a bit of grip from his remaining axle only to brake his half shaft :doh
The resulting bang was the give away as he clattered his way back down the mountain in one wheel drive
One soldier down but the remaining three of us had a stunning afternoon's adventure till about 5.30 Dark was decending as was the rain, making the remaining snow really tricky to handle. So we called it a day and started off down the mountain. A mile or so of drift bashing later we were in the do doos
Landie 110 pick up on 35s - stuck Trol on 35s - stuck Landie 90 on 33s - stuck
Never fear time to break out the winches . So one line from Fez to me ( I'm in the middle) one line from me to Stuart in the 110 . Nothing. So I doubled up my winch line with a snatch block and strop to the 110.
Try again,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,BANG :doh
6 tonne strap burst
Nay bother I got a 14 tonne one out and we started again ...............................EVENTUALLY we broke free :clap After much more heaving pulling and digging later we were reversing the way back down again.
Two hours or so for about two miles we think .
You just can't underestimate the stickiness of wet snow or the loads involved of a stuck truck, let us do it for you :lol
Any road up home now and two tins of lager and a curry later I'm toasting my socks by the fire
There will be some awesome pics and vids of today I'm sure but you'll have to wait .
Cheers buddy boys , I heart offroading :naughty:naughty
