Bugger never thought to check that as i did it last saturday.its low topped up light out. now to find where its going.no sign in footwell for master cylinder.wheels look fine by torch light though.crawl under at the weekend seeif any corrosion.brakes not at all spongy.

Also check brake load regulating valve.
This alters the amount of braking on the rear axle depending on rear load.
It is located above the rear axle on drivers side, with a large diameter spring on it. Spring pressure changes depending on how much the rear suspension compresses.

also pull the vac hose off to the brake servo any sign of brake fluid here means servo leaking, Rick

I used to have a lada niva cossack.... bloody brilliant little 4x4's :thumb2 terrible fuel consumption, about 65 flat out but soooo much fun especially in the snow !

Rear wheel cylinders, they seem to leak every once in a while.

Got new cylinder auto factors £13.90 same as a transit.they were 41 quidish on ebay
shoes the same. not got new shoes yet as there are 3 different sizes apparently.hope its dry enough sunday to have it off ,take shoes in for a matching pair.

What year of Ford Transit mate ?

I need one for my Mav and the only one listed on ebay is £39.95.

So if I could get a transit variety that's a huge saving.

Thanks

When my brake warning light came on a few monthe ago it was caused fluid leakiing from the flexible hose that goes over the rear diff, every time the back axle goes up or down this hose is flexing, eventually it cracks or splits - apparently it's a common problem, so while you're under the car Spudd, might be worth having a quick look at yours.

Low fluid is not always a leak!!

Check the wear on the pads, as they wear more fluid is stored in the calipers,

Also if you top this up, when you push the cylinders back to get the new pads/shoes in all the extra fluid you have put in is forced back into the reservoir - it then overflows runs down the innerwing/bulkhead - the paint is easily eaten away - it rots away..........

Unless it's just a leaky pipe or cylinder.

Ebay is FAB but not the be all n end all, local factors can be far cheaper and no postage.
