I want to beef up my brakes and wondered if there are any quick tricks to more stopping power?:augie

Bigger calipers but bigger wheels may be needed...
Different brake fluid...
Different servo...
Brake bias...
Rear disc conversion...
Air brakes...

Where do you want to "stop".? :augie :lol

Although you may consider an anchor :p :augie :lol :lol :lol

I put 16s on to allow for bigger discs:sly
Really need to do it on the cheap, so wondered if any other calipers off newer bigger Nissans might fit. :augie
Brake bias will be going on soon, but only to get rid of the compensator thing:doh
Bigger servo, mmmmm any ideas where from :naughty

Look at 200sx & Skylines & Patrols / Navaras maybe :nenau

What's the way to work out a servos power? Is it just a case of measure it?
The patrol and navara brakes seem the same as terrano:nenau

my brakes are bloody sharp as out as rick found out when we got ot his gate lol

Before you go replacing bits, strip and clean everything. Check and clean your pads and discs, make sure the pistons are moving freely in the calipers, no marks on the piston surfaces, no splits in the seals, maybe fit new pistons and seals, renew the brake fluid, etc, etc. Also clean the slide pins right up and copper slip them.
Won't cost much and you might be surprised at the difference it could make.

Yeeees, done that I'm afraid. Complete rebuild at the front and everything as it should be, even copper slipped them and red greased the rubbery bits. Although better than before it's still not spectacular. Everything inc the compensator is fine just not man enough:naughty

only last week dumped all the stuff i had for the disc brake conversion . it was almost there . well ready to fit to be honest, just never got time or stuff now so got rid

it was a simple upgrade anyway . you could do it for less than a hundred easy

Agreed it's a neat upgrade and I've got my mate Gary holding a Shogun axle for me:D That's the back end sorted, need more disc size and clout for the front now:cool:

Braided hoses won't make any difference, it's a myth. They just look nice until they rust. Drilled/vented discs, and grooved pads, will both help disperse heat and mud/water more quickly, but they'll wear quicker too. Some 'upgrade' (sintered) pads will wear your discs out quicker as well. If you change to carbon pads clean your discs first. You'll notice a lot more brake dust which is difficult to get off, so you'll need to stay on top of it.
If you change the pads for normal ones later, you'll have to clean the discs again. I don't mean wipe them over with a cloth, you'll have to have take them off and sand them clean.
The carbon pads leave a deposit on the discs which means the braking will improve the more you use them.
They can take a long time to get up to optimum working temperature as well, and your brakes will feel like wood until they heat up.
