can any one help ,i have a 97 mistral and if you press the brake once its fine but if you pump it 4 or 5 times it goes hard and the hand brake light comes on for a second and a buzzer sounds for a second and the brake dosnt seem responsive. hope someone can help cheers chas.

Is this when the motor is running?? silly Q really

thats the servo empty the buzzer is a warning if its happening with engine on bet your vacuam pump is dying do search on this as sharkie had very simlair probs!

Either that or a vacumn leak somewhere and the pump can't keep up with the leak and you using the brakes too

i have the same problem but better since i changed the internal blades round in the pump on the rear of the alternator,

it seems a common problem i have found, but good enough to pass mot each year, just had my mot and flew through again.

see if you have any oil leaking from between the pump and alternator, there is a oil o'ring between them both and if leaking oil could also leak pressure etc.

brakes

i also have the same problems
i burst the front to rear brake pipe and was trying to bleed them when i also noticed oil under car.
it was coming from back of alternator and my wife had reported her brakes werent up yp the normal performance.

i have now turned the blades round and replaced o ring.

does anyone know correct sequence for bleeding brakes or do i just start at furthest away one

cheers
fraz
