Bodywork Cleaning

The recent snow & bad weather has left a orangy type film of sh+++ along the running boards and general bodywork. The carwash did not shift it at all.
I can only assume it is some kind of chemical or similar used in the council gritters.
Can anyone recommend a good 'wash' to use to work this one off? The hard way now of course!!

I think it was molasses, a by-product of sugar beet/cane which is brown in colour.

I would have thought that hot soapy water should sort it.:nenau

Forgot to say that we tried the jetwash after the normal carwash, still no good. Will try a powerjet tomorrow. Thanks for the info lads

our local firestation had a car wash some times... there get loads of 4x4's off salisbury plane them days....

some navara boys used to go playing on salisbury tank tracks,try tfr then wash it off if that dont shift it nothing will!

give it a scrub with arm and hammer toothpaste says on the adverts it gets rid of stains :lol

i've just ben drinking rum, not that it has anyhting to do with this post.

but i did take my t2 through the car wash, the first wash since i have owned it as the mrs was moaning about the mud.

And it too has a film over the paint, it will have to wait for the easter bunny now though, the last wash cost me £3.50

screen wash is the stuff brush it on to the places worst effected leave for a few mins then wash off with soap and hot water

It is molasses, makes the grit salt mix stick to the road. If you ever go onto a gritter or road maintenance depot salt barn its got a horrible smell.

Some countries in europe stopped using it because it was killing the wildlife, basically they were going onto the road to have a lick and getting run over :nenau

thnk of the damage all the hundreds of thousands of tons of this crap they throw on the road does to the environment.

Salt is poisonous it kills fish, pond life, and vegitation
tons of rotting sugar (molasses) can't help

all beacuse some people are too tight to run a 4x4

think of the damage all these 2wd's do to the planet!

We didn't have any gritting due to cost cutting council:lol
I've asked for a council tax for a discount to help fund my 4x4 habit developed since the roads have huge holes in them and long term snow and ice:augie

So, there's 3 moles down a hole. One says "Mmmm, what's that lovely smell, and sticks his nose out to sniff. The second mole joins him and says "Thats' treacle". The first mole says "No, it's syrup". The third mole can't fit up the hole and says "All I can smell is Mole asses"



Dishwasher liquid is bloody brilliant for cleaning cars.
