body shell swap

i was thinking today that although i love my mistral the chassis and every thing is in good class condition but i have a spare one and was thinking of putting a later body shell on it so as to update it with style and comfort but keep the 2.7 running gear and chassis does anyone know if a later body shell will just bolt on i expect there will be wiring issues etc but just need to know weather the mounts are in the same place for the shell any help would good .rob:bow

I'm positive the mounts are exactly the same.
However the thing to watch for is the reg no of the car? I think you have to record both vin numbers and submit the older chassis and new body for approval to keep the old reg or be granted the newer one or something ?
Check with the powers that be as you could get into hot water :augie

I'm sure the floor pan is the same throughout all of the face lifts & putting a later body onto an older chassis would mean you could fit an intercooler to the TD lump:thumbs you would have to tell the DVLA but the chassis number won't change on the earlier chassis so the reg will stop the same & i'm not sure if the body ever got stamped with a chassis number or if it was just on the vin plate again the old one vin plate will prob have to be swapped over onto the new body unless DVLA send you a new one. Wiring shouldn't really be a pain either:thumb2

thats what i thought and being a mechanic and being disabled know i have a lot of time on my hands and i would like to have a later shape with the older running gear i will start reaserching the dvla side and start looking for a goood later shell thanks for the advice makeitfit and sweety

Why not buy late car with blown engine and put your engine and running gear in it.But to be honest they hardly changed between 1993 and 2006 just minor cosmetics
