bmw mini cooper, what to look for please.

hi, my nephew is looking at a mini cooper, its a 2005 55 plate,
looks lovely though I know little of what to advise on.

any knowledge/tips appreciated.


its a 1.6 petrol manual, presume thats 16 valve, be standard
these days. told him back in day BL coopers were lucky to
have 1275 a series, that some minis had 900/1000 cc lol.

appears to be group 9 which to me isnt that bad compared
to the terrano's group 12.

The wife had one. Things which went wrong on hers was the power steering pump suppose to be a common fault but not cheap I think it cost £400 for pump plus fitting, check the exhaust back box for rust on the top if you can get to it there a pain to replace.
Servicing was expensive as they use a platinum spark plug which aren't cheap
