After a few attempts at soldering bits of wire over breaks on the heater blower resistor module .... I decided to buy a new one .... but the price was a bit steep / maybe I wasn't looking in the right place :nenau

So .... I decided to modify it :thumbs

The controller board is a tenner, it is rated at 10Amps which isn't quite enough for the startup surge of the motor on max so increase the fuse to 13Amps and uprate the heatsinks on the module. I just took the FETs off the board, and mounted them to an ali box ( you need mounting kits ) and wired them to the board. The FETs are still well within spec - the fuse was originally 10amps because the heatsinks on the board are small.

I used a better quality potentiomeyer than that supplied with the board and hey presto!:thumbs

It was a tenner plus a few quid for the 10K pot and tranny mounting kits plus a few hours of my time ..... was it worth it :nenau well it works :D

Good call.... mine has a slide rather than a rotatory control, which means the mounting would not be as neat as that.

You can get slide potentiometers - make sure it has LIN ( linear ) stamped on it as most are LOG pots for audio.

Currently I am OK, my fan is working an all settings, but worth knowing for the future. Funnily enough, I was looking at that same board as a controller for the caravan fan, had I not been able to fix the control board for that a few weeks back.

I have some slide pots in the garage amoung my dads old stuff, whats the bettings the are the wrong value...:lol:lol
