Black smoke on acceleration

HI, I've got a 1998 Terrano touring 2.7TD and its got black smoke on acceleration. The MAF sensor is new and it's still doing it. I was thinking of the injectors and or the injection pump as I bought it second hand about a month ago and I reckon it's never been serviced. I've completely serviced everything apart from setting the valve clearances which I've heard is necessary. I can't find an EGR valve on this model, is that right? Any ideas would be more than welcome.

have you checked the air filter??

Might pay to replace the fuel filter as will
And a good injector clean wouldn't hurt in the tank

Update

Still smoking after fitting reconditioned injectors, new number 1 injector, replacement pump, new air filter, new fuel filter. Hopefully another MAF in a week to fit and then clean out the intercooler. Groan.....

My mate who's a mechanic tells me to just give mine a good boot for half hour every so often, might be worth trying? Mine just sits in garage 90% of time and when gets used is only round town so gives alot of smoke on start up and accleration but after a good boot she clears up?

Hi I agree with Mundy

the best cure I have found is to bounce it off the red line a couple of times and drive it like you have stole it (on an off road site in complete safety of course) :thumb2

Iam with this one my old r reg did the same Had to give here a blast down the bypass now and again to clean here out,Looked behind me like a train, loads of black smoke :thumbs

This worked a treat on mine, looked like James Bond laying a smoke screen flaying it down the motorway but after that was clear.:thumb2
