Hi,
I am a licensed producer of biodiesel who also lecturers on renewable energy. Currently I run two 2.7TAD mavericks, one on diesel and one on biodiesel that I produce myself. Both run OK, the one on biodiesel never suffering any fuel related problems. The cost works out at about 10 pence a litre, but I have to pay tax of 27.1 pence per litre, making a total of 37.1hp a litre - not bad!
My own experience and research leads me to the conclusion that correctly processed biodiesel is safe and cost efficent, even in small batch production.
I am interested in hearing from anyone out there who is running (or thinking of running) their vehicle on biodiesel - I can offer advice if needed.

Hi Jerry

Welcome to the club, if you have a look through the forums, there are several threads running on bio diesel, and maybe worth a read to you.

Cheers

I read with interest your posting on biodiesel. I would be interested in any further information you might provide regarding your experience.

I've been running my 2001 2.7TDI on it since mid january, paying 79.9ppl, and other than a problem with the B100 stripping the diesel varnish from the fuel lines, causing a filter blockage, it runs fine.

Where in the North west are you?

if youve a website add it to your profile might generate a few leads

where do you all get your bio from? (besides from you making your own (wow i could do with that))
If it strips the varnis besides filter probs is that it? I change filter regular as it is, are there any treatments to counteract this? And once its stripped is that it probs over?
Sorry about thirty q's but when you need to know you need to know

Hi Ryan, look in the Mirfield Reporter there was a company in Cleckheaton advertising a few weeks ago. Also search google for Rix Oil Company as they produce BIO Dies but I think they are mainly East Yorks.

Easier to go to the supermarket and buy some Veg Oil and run a mixture.
