Horrible heavy looking motor :doh

I wouldn't drive one of those

I have owned both and the earlier 3.1 is a fantastic lump just keeps going however the later 3.0 lump has major injector issues mine only ever ran on 3.5 cylenders all the time I owned it.

Kind regards

Russell.

seems there is a good lump or a bad lump.3.1 or 3.0.anyone know.

This is from the Trooper Owners Club web site when a member asked which to go for:

"I'll start , the 3.1 Trooper is a good reliable truck , a bit underpowered but will always get you home , the 3.0 Trooper is the work of the devil that has ruined Isuzu's reputation beyond repair and the only reason I now drive a Landcruiser ....."

Seems fairly conclusive?

I was looking at the old 3.1 before I stumbled across the terrano :D

The 3.1's are good engines but you'll leave one standing at the lights all day in a T2:lol the 3L is a very nasty engine needing constant repairs like new injector etc:doh

My mate has a 3.0, bag of Sh¥t.Has stated it has had its share of injector problems

well ..... I had one , she was called Emily ...... was a 3.1 td lotus edition .... big powerfull car , I never got stuck in the snow .....or anywhere for that matter ...... pulled like a train ......was quite thirsty tho ..... averaged 18mpg ....until the turbo blew up at 75mph on the M1

so 3.1 seems to be the one to go for.
turbo s go,my brother has just replaced his pajeros.
thanks for the info.

maybe I was unlucky about my turbo ...... apparently the most common fault is the power steering pump , although apart from a small leak once I didn't have any problems ,
DO NOT attempt to go around corners too fast though :augie ..... its a big heavy truck ..... it sorta " wallows " around corners
