Just want to say a HUGE Thanks to Darryl who came around today to help me with my Mav
It was really good of him to give up his time for a "Brother in Trucks"
And I am Very Grateful

With a dash of Faulty Ignition Switch thrown in as well!

But not, as easy as it sounds!

ah yes forgot that have a look at terrano96 thread breaking maverick has ignition switch listed for sale:thumb2 but might be worth asking the chaps on here for advice first though:)

Can't find that one mate?
Can you do a copy and paste the http:www. thingy?

I just send a message to the wee Scots laddie!

Bloody things gone again!
Just tried to start it, 3 turns over and battery's dead!
I reckon I got a duff Battery!
Anyone know how I check it?:(

I don't think it is the battery. we put jump leads on from mine then put my battery on tomas car still didn't start then we put tomas battery on mine fired up straight away its not the battery. when we were trying to start the car It was really slow cranking like a flat battery but the earth terminal on the battery ie the clamp seems to have plastic round it and when tightened up u could still move the clamp. so tightened it a lot more then engine turned over and fired up fine there is an issue with the ignition when u turn the key to the start position u have to go slowly engine then turns.

I've ordered a new positive cable with crimped lugs on the ends, I don't think the new terminal gets a good enough contact on the old cable, plus I'm getting another ignition switch.
When the new cable arrives, I'll remove all earth and positive cables, clean attachment points and replace, the switch should be here by then as well.
I'm taking battery to be tested properly tomorrow, as it doesn't seem to hold the charge.

The thing I still don't understand is why it wouldn't turn over when the jump leads were connected?
Wonder if its the Starter Motor?
But, the problem only started after the Positive cable snapped off!

how did you get on with the battery test? still think it may be worth changing earth clamp:thumb2
