Hi, what is the recommended size of lead for Earth & Positive for a Ford Maverick 2.7 Diesel?

im not sure of the size now, but when i changed my starter lead i had to buy commercial battery clamps, local car spares shop had them, the original type have a tendency to crack.:thumb2

I think the original leads are 25mm2 or maybe even 16, I'd go for at least 35mm2 with good crimps or soldered connections. You are pulling 300-400 amps when starting and more in cold weather, so go for the biggest that will fit and avoid volt drop issues.
Welding suppliers have good cable.....

I'd recommend 50mm sq cable myself, excellent recommendation re the welders cable, tends to come in one colour tho, salmon pink! easily remedied with suitably coloured tape................

If you live near a yacht chandlers or good autoelectric workshop, ask them to use the hydraulic press to sort out the lugs though, don't just solder as the heat generated can melt the solder and then you're a tad knackered......
