in my infinite wisdom, i decided to take my bash plate off yesterday to clear the mountain of mud that was stuck behind it, on doing so, i sheared the bolts off! :( any ideas how i can get the rest of the bolt out, or another way of fixing bash plate back on?

Same happened when I took mine off, luckily each head came off, leaving the shank with just enough exposed to clamp a mole wrench on.
Before I tried with the mole wrench however I soaked each of the screws several time over a week with Plus 50, although probably WD40 would have done the job.
If you don't have any exposed thread then it's probably going to have to be screw extractors, but I can honestly say I've never had much luck with them on small screws like the ones holding the bash plate.

If you can get to them with a drill:nenau Grind the remains flat, get a good center pop mark ad start to open the hole out and then run a tap through :thumb2

When you get them out, or redrill and tap, then why not replace with stainless steel bolts, with waxoyl on the threads.
Works for me, and I've not said this for a while, but I've owned mine for over 19 years and they unscrew easily.:thumb2

I've used s/s too, button head allen screws with a good smear of Copaslip on each.

Often the problem of corrosion is on the thread that protrudes above the welded nut, so S/S prevents this, and grease, or waxoyl fills the threads.

If there is protuding bolt center punch it then tap it with hammer a few times, this should 'unstick' the thread, then drill it, with a bit of luck the drill will turn the bolt and wind it in

Had the same prob on my last T2 as it often came off to be hammered back into shape again:lol I just drilled some new holes & used self tapping coach bolts to secure it
