Just had a great day today, did 4 races, (no placings ) but all great fun, even if hard work, major repairs between races, smashed wheels, snapped track rods, folded wishbones, stuffed rads (3) wings and body rubbing tyres (smashed back with very large hammer with great effort ) stiff neck, brused ribs throat full of "smallfield" mud, belly full of best claret, day off tomorrow to recover, but the adrenaline rush cannot be ignored, wonderfull stuff, Rick

Banger racing at Hednesford Raceway

Some 20 years ago I was a big fan / spectator type of banger racing. I particularly liked the destruction Derby especially if a Daff 33 won instead of the usual old Rover 3 Litres etc.

My wife and I went again about five years ago and to be honest we were a bit disappointed I blame Health & Safety or should that be Health & Efficiency!

(Only older members (no pun intended) will remeber the Magazine I was the envy of the other paper lads when I had a round as I used to deliver a copy in a plain envelope !)(Not the same envelope when they got it finally delivered though.)

Probably an age thing with creeping Victor Meldrew Syndrome setting in though we still like the local concert in the park do's at Caulk Abbey! Having said that its probably the drinking that helps !
