Baby sidelights done

So decided to change my sidelight bulbs, I had originally bought bigger 501 bulbs but they did not fit into the unit :doh

So how can LED lamps be approved with reflectors designed for incandescent bulbs, when LED project most of their light forward, and don't emit light backwards on to the reflector, like a filament bulb?

You might have to read that twice to understand what I mean..

So do vehicles pass the MOT with LED?

You often see vehicles with blue leds as driving lights... why? they say..." dear Mr Plod, please pull me over, and try to find something else wrong with my vehicle, oh and do you like my breath... should I breath into that bag for you?:doh

You can choose other "501 led bulbs" just bear in mind their width (fitting into the headlight housing hole) as the first ones i bought didnt fit :doh

I do partially agree with what you are saying but at the same time i believe the manner in which you drive has most to do with being pulled, obviously if I were to have a 6000k hid kit on full beams driving down the road that would be another story, but these are still tame, just not orange anymore :thumb2

I think the answer to your question is, the blue lights are illegal, and will fail an MOT, but since those bulbs are actually Parking lights, and therefore should not be used on their own when the car is moving, the law is not as tight as it is on head lights, which will cause dazzle if the beam is not correct. There is not a Beam pattern for parking lights, so as long as they are white, work, and do not dazzle, there is nothing to fail them on.

I know what you mean Rustic, the LED bulbs I got have 1 facing forwards & 1 on each of the 4 sides so the light bounces off the reflector:thumb2

You'll just have to add some more lights inside then so you use the bulbs up:lol

I've no idea TBH but never been stopped & I pass a lot of panda cars & motorway cops every day mainly on our housing estate (yeah it's such a nice place to live:augie) but my motor is in for it's MOT in 11 days so i'll find out then when my old boss does the test & he's strict
