auto and manual front diffs

On later t2 tdi 2.7 is there any difference between the auto and manuals front diffs as looking to buy a lokka. And they dont have stock of manual but do in auto transmission models

mines an auto and the front diff is the same as a manual.
its the diff itself that changes from around 2001 onwards.
Lokka don't make anything yet for the later diff.
You will have to source a pre 2001 diff to fit the lokka in then put that onto your motor.
Give banshee a shout as he has recently done his 2004.

Having the same issues.

I've approached Lokka for a front locker, and they advise that they don't make one for my vehicle, a 2001 T2 2.7tdi LWB in a manual, only auto ...

Their actual response :

Hi Paulo,

I have looked into this, and it's happening because the 2.7L Manual has a different front axle to the Auto version. The Auto has a 4-pinion centre and the Manual has a 2-pinion, as far as we are aware. We haven't been able to get our hands on a 2-pinion one to make one that fits.
If you know yours is a 4-pinion one we can help you out, but if it's a 2-pinion, no luck sorry.

How do I determine which diff I have up front ... internet searches make it even more daunting .. C200/R180 ... 31 splines or 29 splines .. oh good Lord .. wtf ???? :nenau

No local support unfortunately .. apparently getting a T2 puts me in a very exclusive/non existant group of offroaders :doh

Basically the diff pre 2001 is a 4 pinion diff for which lokka do make one.
Post 2001 is a 2 pinion diff and lokka don't make one for that.
As I said search for banshee's topic on the front diff lokka.
All is explained in that.
The only way to find out what front diff you have is to get the number stamped on it and compare it to what lokka make.
I have an auto with the 4 pinion front diff but was unaware that nissan continued to fit this diff on the auto post 2001.

We would need to check ratios but presumably an early 4 pin diff would fit a later 2 pin casing & be stronger also.

If the early 4 pin diff has a lower ratio which I suspect it does it would also lend itself better to fitting bigger tyres.
We need someone with a bit of time on there hands to pull a diff or two apart to count crown wheel teeth.
