Just purchased an astra estate 1998 1.7TDS only 44,000 miles. need to get it to the vets for a service etc. maybe a new cam belt. anything to look out for on these vehicles, its the first vauxhall i've had.

Should be a ISUZU lump

Me mum has just scraped her 1
But...
It had done mile's hadn't been serviced for the last 25000 & would of done more had it of not failed the MOT purely on a crap shell

Just do the cam belt,regaler filters & oil :thumbs

As for the cover,have a look at TOTAL VAUXHALL MAGAZINE & it has loads of dedicated breakers in the back :thumbs

i did the water pump while they did the cam belt.... 40.00 extra for the part but cheeper if it goes soon after the belt done....

will look into the water pump being replaced.
The previous owner was a heavy smoker any tips on how to get rid of the smell as a non smoker i really notice it. I'm cleaning the interior and applying liberal amounts of febreeze, is there anything else i can do.
