Got poor radio reception, bbc radio has very stuttery signal most of the others don't work.

Any common problems that might cause this ?

You need to get out of the lake :doh, No it may be a bad earth on the aireal Undo it and check water has not been getting in round the aireal and made it go rusty Plus make sure you have a good earth on the engine to the chassis, And check earh on the back of the radio as well, If still no joy the radio may be gettin tired IE A new one required
