...a bit, particularly when cold.

Trouble is, it's always dark when I drive it cold, so I haven't seen it for myself!

Seems to run and drive absolutely fine, and I'm getting around 25-27mpg around town (MK, so all dual carriageways, accelerating and decelerating).

Is smoking normal? 105,000 on the clock, uses no oil, starts easily, etc.

MAF sensor fault or something?

All diesels will smoke when you put your foot down, have a look in your mirrors in the dark as you can see it other cars headlamps following you. As long as you keep it serviced as you should and it's running OK I doubt there is a real problem. You could clean your MAF but be careful, I cleaned mine by simply spray contact cleaner on it and then cleaned the gauze with the same stuff and a rag. Mine smokes more when cold but still passes MOT's.

hi dale, my truck is the same, remember it's a oil burner so it will smoke to some extent.:thumb2

If you are really worried about the smoke just make sure you replace your oil and fuel filters regularly.
I change the oil every 10,000kms along with the oil filter.

Try putting a fuel additive in the tank the cleans the lines and injectors.
I use Morleys fuel conditioner, does the injectors and up the dectane in the diesel giving a better burn, also stops the bugs that can form in a diesel tank.

A good hot run for a couple hundred Kms without turning the negine off is good cleaner ;)
