Got a line gone on the back window and found this on flea bay. Anyone used it and any tips on how to do a good job. David.
Merry Christmas to everybody on here.

Hi I used a similar product over 17 years a ago. Before I had the Mav.

I assume you have located the break, otherwise you could start from each side with a multimeter, when switched on, you wll find 12 volts either sidse of the break.

It worked fine. IF I recall, I lightly scratched the coating over the break with a scalpel, wiped the area with meths or similar. Masked either side of the element, then applied 3 - 4 coats over the area for about 1 cm each side.

Remove masking, you might have to use a scalpel, parallel to the element, leave to dry for 2 days min, before using it.

Caution, this solution will NOT work if the connector at the end has come loose, as you will create a hot spot and the rear screen can literally explode.

If there is a large break in the element, say a gap of 2mm or more, then I would do as above, But after the first coat, place a single thin strand of cleaned copper wire across the gap, extending only a few mm each side of the break, then complete with another couple of coats as above.

When dry, check for any hot spots.... when switched on.

OR clean the break and just place a blob of the paint over the break, when dry a few more coats, but it won't be that neat from the outside.

Warning:
This is only my opinion, it worked for me with a similar but not identical product.

Always read the instructions on the pack, but you should find it works well.:thumb2

I've used that type of stuff on several cars and it works perfect. Even replaced a section of elephant where a sticker had been. Easy way of finding the break is to mist up the glas which is not difficult on a wet day like today. Turn the demister on and the break will show up as a round dot clearing on that elephant. As said above clean the area and mask, think mine tells you to use two or three coats.
