In my trade (Welding/Fabrication) they were known simply as lock-down or lock-lever clamps. If you're intending to use them to secure something to your vehicle, get the type with padlock loops that poke through the levers, and carabiners to secure them...

Or go to ebay and search " Over centre" picks up loads of catches and latches, clamps etc.

they seem to be called various things, I saw the ones from HK but dunno if the quality will be any good. Missed a cheap one last night, forgot to bid. £2 + £3 delivery.

In view of what they are being used for, I would consider a secondary fastening, after all you don't want to take out a cyclist do you.
Off roading will really put a strain on the latch.


Why not an Anti luce fastner as well. Easy fix.

Also consider some form of stop to prevent the wheel carrier from going sideways. You probably will, but put something in place that won't chip the paint, like a rubber bump stop etc.
Similarly for the closed position, to stop it rattling.

Why not put some M8 or M10 nuts in various places, for adding attachments later, bike rack,
extra spare wheel, high lift jack ropes.

You will also need to consider a bolt or something to keep it open, when opening the rear door, if you happen to be on a slope.

Just a bit of lateral thinking....

Anti luce faster is a good idea, could be easily incorporated into my design.

Plan on making a hi-lift mount on it.

Going to probably use one of those boot sliders to stop it from comming out too far.

it won't be moving sideways, will be using a trailer stub axle and hub. Rated to 750kg. On the lock side plan on using nylon or similar plastic to hold it up.

I'm a bit off anti-luce fasteners at the moment, the tail-board of one of my trailers is held in place by virtually new ones and it fell of while towing it on the open road recently. I have now started putting 'r' clips though the bottoms of the catches to stop them coming undone.

Agreed "auntie lucy" clips are gay :augie I have a couple in the back of my truck to lock down the flat bed. They will rattle loose off road :doh Unless you can adjust them just so to put an R clip in there aswell, but that seems to an answer to a problem that shouldn't be there :thumbs

well I was going to use it as a backup in-case the main toggle clamp came loose. Just as a precaution.

You can also stick a carabiner or padlock in the anti-luce fasteners to stop them from opening.

Yeah good idea, I will be adding a stop plate on the swing away part to stop it going into the door. So I can make a hasp from that.
