Anyone know the site to stop cold calling on BT? put our # down on it years ago, and started getting sodding calls day & night again :doh
Wondering if this is more crap from a Deleted Member !!

Well thay say we are still on their register, so God knows whats going on..:nenau getting about 3 to 5 an hour from all sorts of firms..:doh

I'm sure they told you to too - but take the names of the firms as they ring you and then complain.

theyre probably using recycled data....

which means when they get low they dump you back in... mostly by ignorance and stupidity rather than malicious intent.

Tell them "I have signed up to the telephone preference service at least 3 months ago i checked this week and i am still on it, it is illegal therefore to call me again... please have your dialler manager remove my number from the list" take their name and their managers name... and say you'll report them to ofcom if it happens again. Use them exact words and legally all they can say to you is okay / fine i'll get it sorted....

I used to be a manager for a legit firm, if they are legit they will remove you within a day. Not the wee guy on the phones fault, but these calls can be very annoying. People dont realise that they sign up for these calls when not ticking boxes when buying other goods and services...

hope it helps...

Bill

Thanks, will start today,:thumb2

You'll probably find that the companies involved are ringing from overseas and have never heard of the Telephone Preference Service. Not a lot you can do about that.

Cheers

Well there is to a degree....you'll never get round these bloody random number diallers, but as well as an ex-directory status, BT will, if pressed, provide an 'unlisted' number. That means that when someone calls directory enquiries you won't even be listed to them.

Bad news is you'd need to change your number.....but thats only £15 I think so might be worth considering. You don't need any justification for requesting it.

When you've been married three times you get to know these things...:thumbs

Looks like thats going to be the way to go, with the change of number, house & mobiles..:doh

If you're getting malicious calls, that's something different!
You can get BT to ban the number thats ringing you too. You need to call them right after you've received one though for them to trace it.
Also is your phone a business line, cause there's another service that helps then. The TPS will advise you who they are as I've forgoten. I think you register for a yr at a time so check your status.

No they aren't malicious calls, just peeps telling I have been on to them to buy everything upto a garden shed, getting the lot windows, doors, reroofing etc, not only on the house phone but our mo's too..Thats what makes me think it's one of our former members..:nenauhope I am wrong here.

Hmmm, if your getting a sudden pile of calls on the mobile, then I'd guess someones got/given it to some agency or something!
Mucho fishy:augie
Have a word with your mobile provider as I'm sure there's some stricter rulings on mobile sales cold calling!

do what i do and go along with them and even arrange a rep to call, and then lead him on for an hour or two, then ask him what he thinks of having his time wasted, then tell him to go forth and multyply. sorted, i done several it times, and it beats the telly for a laugh.:lol

to date i have had 4 lots of windows, (over the phone)
2 conservatories, (over phone)
1 front door, (over phone)
and a bed that does everything. rep came round 2 1/2hrs
and a kirby hoover, rep came round and gave us a demo.
