Tata

They are a cheap and nasty vehicle from the stone age I would value it at £500 if it had a years MoT with no advises.

Summary:

A piece of crap!

Faults:

This car has been a nightmare since I bought it.

I knew it was not going to be a fast model, but I didn't know that it doesn't go uphill.

The wheel tracking/alignment was not right since purchase, but the dealership claims that I probably drove over a stone or a pot hole and caused the fault... it's a 4 X 4, with two settings and a two wheel drive setting. It's meant to be driven off road (not that it has), but would I even consider chancing that in this vehicle?

It has to be serviced every 5000 miles according to the manufacturer, because if you don't the thing will die of respiratory failure.

It has leaked oil since its 1st service, mostly form the turbo charger. At one point I was putting up to 5litres of oil a week into it just to stay on the road.

There is a problem with the gear box, not my diagnosis but their dealerships, and TATA are refusing to replace the gearbox even though its still under warranty.

The air bag controller is faulty since purchased, despite having a new one fitted.

Buying simple spares such as an air filter is impossible. My nearest main dealer is over 90 miles away. So I tried to get my car serviced recently, but the garage couldn't source the air filter locally.

Now I am waiting for both TATA and the dealership to tell me that I could have gotten a new gearbox under warranty, in 6 months time, when the warranty is up.

VERDICT ON CARS' ROAD TEST

We all like a bargain but sometimes price simply isn't everything. Take the Tata Safari. Built on the cheap in India, when you compare the specification with other four-wheel drives it looks like a winner. However, this is simply a bad deal because the build quality is appalling and, when you finally decide to sell on to another unsuspecting motorist, you'll be lucky to collect more than a few rupees. The 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine is woefully underpowered and gives the Safari about as much finesse as a three-legged giraffe. Anti-lock brakes, air conditioning and alloy wheels are standard but you would be better off with a secondhand Toyota RAV4.

yeah thats the kind of stuff i'm finding too, plus tax is the highest rate tax band so absolute no go just from there.

Think i'll say no & hope & pray this range rover sells :(

Thanks guys :thumb2

as above, and no offence to the Indians, but frankly they build shit cars. They are a long way off producing something reliable.

:lol don't get me wrong the range rover is a big comfy beast & drives lovely, lovely soundtrack too, lazy buggers car to drive, I just can't afford to fuel the bugger :doh or more to the point I can't afford for the mr to keep treating it like a 1.2 corsa & dotting about in it :eek: & lpg seems to fry heads & pistons on them.
