Has anyone replaced glow plugs on a R3mR ?

My local mechanic has sourced some glow plugs for a 2.7 TD with intercooler and the glow plugs are bigger (about 4 mm lomger) than the one he has removed from my engine. Not sure now if the engine I have has had the wrong glow plugs fitted or if the ones he has sourced from Blueprint are the wrong ones. I have rung Milner Off Road and they do not list one for the R3mR.

Has a member got an R3mR and had this problem ?

could your old ones be worn leaving them 4mm shorter than the new ones ?

pm rick solarman for advise

Good point :)
When I changed mine two of them were completly worn away and at least 6-8mm shorter:thumbs
You could always get the piston up top and measure with a welding rod how much room you've got
In fact , just found the ones I took out and there's more like 20mm diff from new to worst one!

There could be some of the tip worn away but there is also a threaded body difference. A member has sent me a PDF link from Australia and its got all the dimensions for various models so I am going from that and whats already fitted.

If it is the same as the Terrano engine you will not feel the piston if you insert a welding rod but the bottom of the side chamber in the head, this system is used to cut down diesel knock, but it will give a god indication of the max length glow plug to use, Rick
