Typical, did the strip down and clean of the auto hubs (as like many others my 4x4 is a 2x4.) did the egg cup of oil took it for a blast (2wd), got back tried it on the ice in the drive to see if I had 4x4 seemed pretty good for um 2 mins then stopped. checked it again this morn in the light and the part of the hub which the snap ring locks to has snapped in two or more places!

Looks like Milner will have another pair of manuals sold!

Just thought i'd let you all know, i was hoping i'd just need the springs but they're fine!

I never like to do it by halfs!

Good sentiment Willow, 12 years old mine and certainly been ok for 4 years own it,
the autos that is but wouldn't hesitate at first sign of trouble.

so glad ours were fine this week as first time mrs had had to drive in this weather for
years and with a 4by at that. couldnt believe how easy was to move in and of 4hi.

sure would get hang of manuals as would have locked 'em in advance of weather then
run locked til thaw completed.

so hint to all you auto hubbers theres no need to reverse at end of each GL just knock
out of 4hi into 4 lo, even then if tyres muddy or road as typically are between as other
day did several hundred yards locked, at most on wet main roads between slush and
icy side roads. no hint of windup, worst case tyres chipped or skipped.
