Hi All,
I have been looking for a decent service/diagnosis centre for my Y61 GR ZD30 LWB for a while now and have just come across Frogs Island 4x4 that's only about 50 miles away from me. I looked on their website and they have a Y61 listed under the "vehicles" section.

Has anybody used them before? It seems like a couple of people on here have used them for fitment of aftermarket parts but not service.

Are they reliable? Do they know what they are doing? Is the labour rate reasonable?

Any advice would be fantastic, cheers

Chris

a few mates have used them in the past, only for mail order though, and found them very good, :thumb2

I saw some wiring they did as an installation for lights, winch and other accessories on someone elses truck and was thoroughly unimpressed.

Any normal local garage should be able to service your troll - personally I wouldn't drive 50 miles, look for a local guy with a good general reputation and take him the service sceduke in if you're worried he migt miss something and ask for it all doing.

Yep, normally i would agree. However i have a few niggling problems with the truck that i can't seem to solve. Ideally i need a garage who has some experience with Y61's and the ZD30 engine. I can service it myself (just fitted a new alternator, battery, afm, tensioner, main drive belt, oil, filter etc) I have had some bad experiences with garages in the past (see previous posts) and im a "do it once, do it right" kind of mindset here. Tired of paying peanuts and getting monkeys.

Or in Nissan's case, paying in solid gold ingots and getting paraplegic vegetables.

They are round the corner from me and they are a bunch or w*nkers IMHO. I got seriously fleeced a few years back when they did my rear drive shaft after a bearing broke up unexpectedly. They are really LR specialists although they claim to do jap trucks just to get work in the door.

They also stitched a former member here who spent about seven grand with them on his Patrol and I saw some of the work they did - it was shite....

My advice would be to go elsewhere - they are looking for big money jobs as far as I can see
