Hi

Just failed MOT and confusing myself on the following

"NEARSIDE FRONT ANTI ROLL BAR LINKAGE HAS EXCESSIVE PLAY IN BALL JOINT"

Do they mean the joint at the end of the stabiliser bar ??

Thanks

I also failed on ABS light - I guess a sensor - anyone knows a supplier for those?? - I have searched couldnt find much on ABS or front anti roll bar

The anti roll bar link or drop link as the workshop (downloads section) calls it does have a knuckle joint (ball joint) on it, though normally it is the bushes that wear. Have a look on the downloads section and you will see exactly what it is.

Thanks for the quick reply -

Well they just mention the ball joint in the front ARB at the MOT - are they easy to replace??

Thanks

Have a look at workshop down load W07  That should talk you through it.
I see your from Sunderland so you not that far from me  My brother works at sunderland Uni

Not too bad, I used two jacks. One to jack the car and a smaller one to jack the roll bar at the opposite side to where the car was jacked up. It is a while since I did mine but from what I remember it was just to put the roll bar in the correct posisition. Like I said have a look in the downloads section as there is a workshop on this subject.

See Ya

Anybody got an idea on the ABS light ?? Common problem / fix? - I got only 5 days left for MOT retest ;-)

Car is a 1998 2.7 - lwb

Thanks

There has been a few threads on ABS, often broken wires & dirty contacts at the wheels if I remember right  Sorry if not much help, but don't have ABS on mine

don't know why but I think it is the Nearside front sensor that tends to go faulty.

Im running out of time with the ABS to check the wires etc for now - I just need the light out - easy to do???? (getting the dash out etc). After next week i will fix the abs but for now i pulled the ABS fuse and still have the light - any ideas?

Is it possible to whip the blub out from the ABS light as your running out of time just for the trip to the test station

Mav.

Thanks - yeah i just done that - was easy about 15 screws.

Gonna read more tonight about the ABS fix seems to be some good stuff for it on here .
