Good evening 4x4 techincal geniussessses.

Mrs Pigglet's 2003 Terrano 3.0's anti roll bar has had an argument, and the driver's side ball has irreconcilably parted from its socket on the drop link.

Having had a look through the numerous posts on the subject, and the soon-to-be-invaluable technical document in the downloads section, it seems a pretty straightforward job.

Question is, is it safe to be left 'til next weekend (Mrs P drives it 80 miles a day), or should I get the floodlights out and attempt the operation on a dark damp evening (or maybe even get a garage to do it!)

Only symptom at the moment is a 'clonk' when the RHS compresses heavily (on a bump or cornering).

Presumably any of the companies in the Web Links section will be able to supply new units.

Many thanks

Mr Pigglet

the front and back ones been broke on my prelude since before the summer wit no problems just a wee bit softer round the bends when goin hard and slides a bout a bit :D

If it was still intact and just knocking I would of said leave it but having one on and one off I think 80 miles is a long way to travel like that. Think what your insurance company would say if she were to have an accident? There are previous posts about people removing the anti roll bar all together. Personally for safety's sake I would rather get one fitted ASAP. I think brakes and suspension are the same in the fact that what you do to one side you should do to the other as they have to be equal, I'm not saying replace a perfectly good link on the other side but it isn't equal having one on one side and not the other.

there pain in butt mate wear out very quick ovaling the hole you may want to get some big washers to stop them pulling through, doubt shell notice any ill efects apart from clonking you describe!

I've taken mine off completely and it drives fine. I used to just disconnect one end of the rear for going green laning etc and that was fine. With the way an antiroll bar works, disconnecting one end effectively disconnects the other as it has nothing to work against so it should be ok to drive. Is it the front or the rear. The thing is whilst the truck will roll moreit will also grip more at that end so it could cause the handling to be a bit different to usual. If the missus doesn't really push thing you should be ok but if she drive quick might find it under or over steers more than before depending which end has gone.

Hi Hummingbird, it's the front that's gone. I've got a pair on order off fleabay so it'll be sorted next Saturday (torrential rain/snow permitting of course).

She can take my humble Focus to work this week for safety's sake I think!

I agree wit Jim you need to put safety first and what would the insurance say? I am sure nissan put them on there for a reason!

All done, thanks to the invaluable technical download department.

I ended up cutting off the old joints where they attach to the rollbar, as the old nuts had siezed, it was easier just to get the grinder out.

In fact the removal was the most difficult bit, fitting the new ones was a piece of some pie. Mmmm, pie!

So Mrs P can have her leviathan back and it's all toight like a toiger.

I dont know how anyone can drive without them on as its like being in a rowing boat in a rough sea without them.

You get used to it quite quickly - and it more than makes up for it off road.
