Right then, sorry to ask this, but I've searched and can't find the answer.

I'm after some A/T tyres for my Terrano SWB with a 2" lift, but it has 16" wheels (everyone else seems to have 15", which is why I can't find the answer I think)
What size will fit on?
Everyone says 31/10.5/15 which are 265/75/15 (I think) will fit.
Now I think 255/75/16 are about the same size, so would these fit, or would 265/75/16 be better?

Thanks in advance!

I'll watch this with great interest.

I'm currently using 235/70/16 on some steel wheels that Adz supplied the previous owner.

The truck was on 235/85/16's originally but two were heavily worn so I picked up some cheap insa turbo dakars.

Still tempted for some lighter steels so this may swa my choices.

The 265 for example is your width & 75 for example is the height.!

If you PM "makeitfit" he is running on the equivalent to 33"s as he is on 16"s :thumbs & i'm on 15"s :thumbs

Can't believe anyone has not yet pointed you to this link:nenau

http://www.kouki.co.uk/utilities/visual-tyre-size-calculator

265 is the tyre width in mm

75 is the side wall height as a percentage of the tyre width!

to calculate the height in inches

Height is

Wheel diameter 15 x 25.4 = 381mm

tyre wall height 265 x 0.75 = 198.75mm

Times 2 = 397.5mm

So 381 + 397.5 = 778.5mm

In inches 778.5 / 25.4 = 30.65 inches

Which is in line with the insa turbo traction track tyres I had 265/75/16 came in at just under 32inches.:clap

I've been playing with the kouki tyre calculator and its from that I guessed that 265/75/15 are about the overall size as 255/75/16.

The tyresave calculator is pretty cool, so what I'm really asking here is what overall diameter that will fit on with a 2" lift. From what I've read on here 31" is about as big as will fit (with minor trimming of mud flaps) so - according to tyresave - 245/75/16 is 30.47"

So, 245/75/26 will be a good size for my 16" wheels right?

I think 265 70 16's would be a safer bet if your worried about the extra half inch!
I also think that this is a much more alvailable size check Ebay!!
If you want new / remoulds try Pete at Spondon tyres for a bargain!!!
I'll see if I can get him to do a club deal !!

With regards to the lift

Is it body or chassis lift :nenau

Ah yes, its a suspension lift.

And yes 265/70/16 do look like a much better option - thanks.

Anything above 31" or the equivalent & you may / do / will need to trim / cut / panel beat the front arch & sill :thumbs

If your gonna go for 31", you may only need a small trim or gentle tap with a hammer :thumbs

265 * 0.7 = 185.5 x 2 = 371 / 25.2 = 14.6 + 16 = 30.6

So 265 / 70 R 16 is about 30.5 inch

May avoid the hammer!!

Thats what I wanted to know, thanks for all the help everyone and sorry for the repetitive question.
I've found some General Grabber UHP 265/70/16 at Tyredrive for £400 for 5 posted. I won't be doing lots of off-roading, so these seem about right for me.

Be close, depends on the bloody tyres as they are never bang on

31" is 50/50 really, ya might be lucky, might just have to loose or trim front mud flaps if you have them or a slight adjustment to the sill & bottom part of the wing. :thumbs

Or

Do what Pete would do but in reverse & jump it thus bending the front end :doh :augie :lol :lol :lol

I'd do some shopping and asking first you could get that localy fitted if your cheeky! and that could save you £30 at least!! Try Kwikfit on a sunday morning for cash when the manager is at home in bed!!:augie

If your local tyre shop can make something on the tyres they will stand the labour to make proffit on the tyres..
