Hi,

I had power loss problem before, cleaned the maf, changed the filters, checked the mini filter and things improved.

However it seems I'm back where I started.

I'm losing power on hills. It doesn't need much of an incline and I'm dropping down the gears to keep going. On the flat no problems at all.

A couple of things I've noticed is that:-

There are oil weeps either end of the intercooler
The baffle plate on the left hand side intercooler pipe is very rigid. I don't seem to be able to flap it. I don't know if I should move easily or not?

Anything else I should check?

Cheers

Dave

Start with those intercooler hoses, I've noticed on a few Terranos that I've seen that sometimes people over enthusiastically tighten the Jubilee Clips which causes them to "nick" into the hose, when the car is running the oil then escapes through the tiny cut in the hose and mists around causing the build up of gunk you see in the intercooler hose. When mine had a hole in, I had problems in the higher gears when motorway cruising

What do you mean by the baffle plate?

Any MIL lights or stored codes?

Banshee,
Sorry for not coming back sooner. The weather here improved and I've been out cutting firewood for 2017/18 winter.

By baffle I mean - if you take the intercooler off and look down on the left hand side there ist, I'm assuming to be, a movable baffle which I guess restricts airflow. Not sure which way the air flows - right to left or left to right. ( sorry I don't know what the names for these bits and bobs are)

That baffle is rigid. I only had a quick look and haven't followed the ligature to what makes it move. But I would have thought that while it would be fairly rigid I would have expected to be able to move it with my hand. I don't seem to be able to. Admittedly I haven given it any real well just in case I break something.

Because I don't know what it does or when its meant to do it, I don't know if that could be the problem.

OK, got you now, mine move freely by hand :nenau

it is a bit of rubbish, when you shut engine off it is supposed to close to try and stop excessive engine shake, it does not work, jam it open and disable it, Rick

I swapped mine for earlier one as they don have them. It unbolts from inlet then I put bolt in end of vacuum pipe job done.

I wouldn't mind.betting still maf prob as I've never had succes in cleaning them. Give me the numbers on side of maf as I have a few here I may have same as yours spare

My spare is still up for sale if anyone needs it as Mark has sorted his issue out and now has a shiny new no1 injector :sly
