Hi just updated from a 94 maverick to a 97 terrano, WISH I HADNT as im having clutch probs and it doesnt pull as well

id start with the maf. sounds like that it needs cleaning or a new one.

Likelihood is its one of the usual (and therefore not difficult to fix) suspects....as Zippy says, start with the MAF (theres plenty of threads and a download (second item under 'Todays Posts' in Quick Links menu....

As for your clutch problem, what is it - slipping or something else; describe symptoms?

You'll be very lucky to find a MAF on an early one like that as they don't have them. Try removeing the banjo bolt for the fuel line on the fue pump and cleaning the little filter you should find inside - known as mini filter.

Hi the pedal feels strange and doesnt return all way back, BUT NO SLIPPING, 1st gear hard to engage sometimes

pedal on the way out then prob needs removing then re welding couple of hours easy diy

mine is crap on towing its like clutch drag its great on normal driving but on steep welsh hills . if i give it welly it will drag too very occasionally

never really bothered me i dont tow much...

if yours is a 97 is it td as in your pic or is it the early tdi with bonnet scoop and hitachi maf

Chances are then it's got the Hitachi MAF:doh
I've just been trying to get one at a reasonable price anywhere
So if anyone knows where for not a lot please advise.

I know everyone says no, but as a married man I never take that for an answer (!!)...I'm wondering what else you would have to swap if you went from Hitachi to Bosch....ECU? i.e. what makes it so terminally impossible when its the same engine, fuelling etc......?

My clutch does that in a 2005 model with 28k on it! Not slipping, but you have to put your toe under to 'pop' it back up!

Unfortunatly cars under warrentry from the Car People....

First time it went to garage they adjusted it.... made clutch slip in 3rd, 4th and 5th!!!
Second time it went to garage they adjusted it back, to stop clutch slipping... but put it back to how it was :doh
Third time it went to garage they replaced the clutch spring.... made no difference - if anything made it worse!!! :doh :doh :doh
In the end up they told me they had spoken to Nissan who say the clutch SHOULD BE LIKE THAT!!!!! :augie

In the end up I kicked of and told them I would take it to Nissan to be repaired at THEIR expense!

Car is currently in Nissan having a new clutch assembly fitted, apparently the bolts at the back wear... parts only cost about £11 quid - but its the labour invloved in getting it all replaced, and reset!

Hope its sorted soon... wana go 'vanning at Easter!!!

if you can get one i suspect its almost half what your cars worth.....but I'm not so sure, a lot of the reading I've done indicates the Hitachi is a lot more reliable than the Bosch so don't give up just yet.
