Apart from the shotgun method or a Y61 accidently running over it, does anyone know what I can do legally about a loud constantly barking German shepherd that is kept outside all day and night ?
Any constructive advice welcome.

rspca. might be able to help with advice.

sound recording, with times dates then call the local council.

Get intouch with the council regarding the noise level. Also the police if the noise goes on into the early hours of the morning there are laws about noise levels.
The RSPCA have little power with this type of thing unless the dog is clearly suffering. They don't care of you are suffering:nenau:rolleyes:
Good luck

hi tony

the council have the power to do something about this(noise pollution), but if the dog is not being walked and looked after then the rspca can step in.some dogs bark alot through negelect(frustration), due to lack of exercise and other things. you will know better if this is so...good luck

had a simular problem a couple of years ago with a woman next door but one to me.she had a staffy constantly chained up outside her house which was the same with persistant barking day and night.we reported it to the council who told us that she wasn't a tennant but a home owner so we would have to take it up with her.
talked to her nicely(honest)but just got a load of abuse so i climbed on the shed and took pictures of the dog and its condition then reported her to the r.s.p.c.a.
the dog wasn't realy in bad heath but had no proper shelter and no water down.also the garden wasn't secure so it did get out a few times.
the r.s.p.c.a did come out and chat with her but it didn't have any effect so a few of us got a petition together which we sent to the council which eventually had some effect and she got rid of the dog.
the whole episode went on for a few months before it got sorted.good luck.

As mentioned before Dadba get in touch with the council as it is class as noise pollution & they have to act on it:thumb2To make your case stronger you could tape the barking as evidence:augie TBH the RSPCA are a waste of time (up here for deff) as we have contacted them a few time about animals suffering & they just did'nt want to know:eek::mad::mad:
TBh i've got the same breed over the back of me doing the same thing:rolleyes:so I let my dogs out of the back gate & it kicked off at them so our Sam grabbed it's nose through the fence & held on:lol:lol:lol it sharp shut up & has'nt been as bad the last few days:D oh Sam did'nt mark it one bit as thats how he's trained:thumbs

We have a similar problem in that our next-door neighbour looks after the dog for someone else, they leave it out all night so it barks,if we let our dog out it goes hysterical at the fence(ours just ignores it),where do we stand in reporting it to the council; as it is not their dog, sometimes it stays for a couple of hours but other times in can be here for a week we have no idea how long it will stay for.
The neighbours dont seem bothered by it barking but then again they are both hard of hearing.

Damn dogs

Hi guys just seen this thread and have an idea for you.
We had a similar problem with yappy dogs.
You can get a dog screamer thing off ebay. It sends out a high pitch noise when the dogs bark. It stops again as soon as the dog stops.
The one we had was battery powered and I stuck it on the neighbours shed (when no one was looking)
Worked a treat in a couple of days.:sly

dont know if anyone has already said this but as silly as it sound you can get an asbo where the owner has to keep the dog inside or stop it from barking if they do not comply with this the you can get an order from a court where the owner must do something by law. hope this helps

Barkbuster

When we called the council they took an age because first we had to do a log of the noise incidents. Then they would start negotiations...da de da :nenau
So tuff tits I got an earlier version of THIS ebay item 300262794661 :sly

Its such a shame cos I really do like dogs of all kinds (jack russells best) but this one is kept tied up outside behind a make shift cage type thing about 6ft by 6ft with what looks like a coal bunker for a kennel.
I think daveg hit the nail on the head with his theory tho. So that all said and after long long discussions we think we will have a good case with both the council & the RSPCA.
The owners moved here bout Sept-Oct time, and ever since then its bin a constant row of yapping and German shepherd type barking.

Now do I approach the Woman (owner) and ask her if she has any plans for it to stop or do I just inform the council etc ?

Thing is if she knows its me thats complained thats fine I can handle the abuse etc, but I dont want Lyn (my wife) getting any hassle from them.
Thez about three teen chavvy type kids and men with white vans constantly coming and going from the hole/place.
Best bet is to look after my own and do the right thing I think.

Tell you what, I'll tape the row on my vidphone and post it up here for you all to enjoy.
I would love to go thru with the Y61 idea tho.

I think you need to give her fair warning that your haveing a problem with the way the dog is behaving.

Thats why I liked the barkbuster. It avoided all the grief thats possible and quicker than the council.
Its got a range that would work from your garden and does the dog a favour too. Instant training no pain etc.

i used one of these with my own dogs when they where younger as the bitch was a very yappy/barky annoying dog when she was younger.
they do work very well.pity you can't get one that works on people aswell:lol
might invent one and go on dragons den with my new chav buster

Thanks from me Makeitfit
We also have a nieghbour with a barking dog. They are good neighbours and they did not know what to do about the barking. Their dog is well looked after. I have just let them know about the barkbuster they are off to get one so peace may soon resume.
Good site this you never know what your going to find:thumbs:clap:clap
