I've just noticed a fray in my alternator belt, so it needs changing.
I don't have air con, just two belts, one for the power steering pump and one for the alternator.

Are these belts the same size, and I presume it's best to change both together?:nenau

If I'm honest I found them quite difficult to do as there didn't seem to be an easy way of tightening the belts but I got there in the end with a big metal pole lol

Both belts are the same, I had to do my alternator belt at the side of the road last year here in Spain (I always carry a spare under the back seat).
Can't say I found it too difficult, slacken off the p/s pump & take off that belt (thread it around the fan, no need to disturb the plastic shroud), slacken off the alt belt and remove around the fan. Assemble, as they say, in reverse order. I use a large screwdriver as a lever to tension the belts allowing about 1/2" of free play.
