After meeting with richtheracer and being told that my car had the capability for remote central locking or brought this keyfob from eBay which in the listing clearly states that it's a 433.92MHz fob but when I received it today it clearly says on the back 418MHz !!!!!! :(:(:(

I've contacted the seller for a refund but is that correct that I need the 433 instead of the 418?

you need to locate and look at the remote locking receiver to find out, it is to the left of the steering column, is yours a Mk 1 (square head light) or Mk 2 round jobbie, Rick

Mk2 Round lights :), easy enough to drop the plastic off to have a quick look now you reckon?

how much did you pay? I have one somewhere.

Edit: found it and mine is on 433mhz and is a ford mav.

Just took the steering shroud off and wish I'd never bothered now lol
I think I've lost a screw and can't see shit in the dark but figured out that I need the 433.92MHz one :)

The shroud will have to go back on tomorrow now lol I haven't the patience for it tonight and will probs ends up breaking something in the dark lol

So whose got a spare fob for sale for me then ;) ??

Ah but at least you now know for certain, worth the hassle for positive information rather than a guess, Rick

Just to let you all know that I've got this sorted now :), managed to find another key on eBay that was the right frequency and have now successfully programmed it into my car.

It's a god send!!! lol,the one that was on the right frequency though was in a right state so I managed to swap all of the internals out of it into the case of the 418MHz one that I brought but was refunded for and told I could keep :) as that one was brand spanking new.

Cut a long story short, I contacted the guy who told me that he was under the impression it was a 433 however the sticker on the back clearly stated it was a 418 so he refunded me and told me to keep the fob as he stole it from Nissan where he worked anyway but they had just sacked him lmao

Programmed it in using the fantastic guide provided in the download section, yet another instance of this forum being a truly great community :)

Thanks guys
