Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of putting some new alloys on my Mav (1998 2.4petrol SWB) and I would like to move up to a larger wheel (currently 15") to say 17". Would that cause any problems? Any advice appreciated.

Main problem with 17s is that the tyres will cost you big bucks:eek:
Best stay on 15s or 16s for good tyre choice and price :thumbs

also 17 are crap off road im told, as not side walls to soak um the lumps and bumps

I use 265/70 R17 General Grabber AT2 on the Patrol. They work fine, both on tamrac and off. You can get BFGs in the same size, but EXPENSIVE.

bfg are notorious for really bad balancing

I had BFG 245/70 R16 AT KO on an Isuzu Trooper - did about 60,000 miles on them & they had about 4mm left when I sold the motor. I bought them from Ainsworth Road garage, Radcliffe (near Bolton).

The tyres balanced perfectly when new and didn't need rebalancing whilst I had them.

A couple of weeks ago we were at a pay n play site where the only tyre issues were with BFG mud tyre that left the rim :lol Damn heavy frisbee :D
