You guys will love this one. I've had such a good idea its unreal :augie

A long time ago on my motorcycle, when removing the airbox I managed to break the crankcase breather hose adapter that fits to the underside of the airbox, :doh
this didn't give me issues for ages, until the hose began to fill, and now on occasion is likes to spew oil all over the engine and downpipes making a right mess... I did try to repair this myself some time ago but to no avail, being such a fiddily shaped adapor (like a weird shaped T peice) :doh

my awesome solution now is to re route the stray hose to the rear chain guard and secure it there pointing onto my drive chain, thus self lubricating itself.

Clever idea eh? :naughty

I await the applauds :clap

P.S tyres love oil :augie

Someone should put him out of our misery...:lol:lol

OK, he did ask for it, so who volunteers to give Alex the clap...:clap:clap:clap:doh

i bet she will :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

I knew I knew her from somewhere............:augie

On every bike and quad I have owned the crank case breather has been positioned just above the front sprocket to lube the chain.:thumb2

Thankyou I knew I was a genius :augie  :p

I now await your apologies :naughty :kissy

Haha but seriously, perhaps routing near the front sprocket is a safer bet, it actually doesent produce a lot of oil anyway.. The only reason I notice it now is because it all builds up (as the hose is facing up) then once enough has built up it all comes out. Makes it look like the rocker cover is leaking bad :doh

The crankcase breather is positioned in the air intake box for several reasons.

1 to reduce emissions, the oil mist is burnt, Honda also did this mod to their outboards, the breather pipe used to drain through the lower cover, and now it inputs to the input side of the carburettor.

2 Another reason, is that it produces a marginally slightly lower pressure than atmosphere, and can help to reduce oil leaks, from seals and gaskets, although to be honest, this would be very slight indeed.
