Airbag light. 06 Plate with no passenger airbag?? Anyone else got no pass airbag?

Ok, since ive bought my Terrano a few weeks ago the airbag light has been on (although covered up).

Ive uncovered it as id like to fix it rather than hide a fault.

Both front seat plugs were disconnected as was the airbag ECU itself. Now theyre all reconnected its coming up with fault code 51 assist a/b module open. Passenger airbag open circuit i thought, and read that the plug at glovebox is known problem.

Went to have a look this morning, to find an airbag plug (yellow 2 wire behind glovebox) not plugged in. Then i realised potentially a big problem. I have a non airbag dash! With a sort of flat section and a grab handle, similar to older Terranos.

Whats happening here? Is there some of these without passenger airbags? It has side airbags, surely it would have two front airbags aswell?

Im hoping it hasnt had the dash swapped, even if it has, from what!? It is the later dash with the swooping centre console etc..

Im stumped!!

Its a 2006 SWB Commercial SE.

I have however found another one with the same dash as mine, no passenger airbag.

99% on Ebay have a passenger airbag though, only found 1 other commercial same as mine without one.

Might have been an optional extra and wasn't selected on your motor when it was ordered hence all the wiring is there but there's no airbag and it's only a standard dash.

I doubt there will have been a dash change, you should be able to tell if there has, there's always tell tale signs

I know that this is a DIY commercial but this one is an 03 plate and seems to have the passengers air bag dash;

My 2001 LWB (not a commercial) doesn't have a passenger air bag, just a nervous passenger grab handle and a shelf.

Trophymick- Does yours have side airbags? Its got toggles stutched onto side of seats saying so if it does?

Thats what i cant understand, it has side airbags and not even a front one.

I think looking under the dash there is definitely bolts etc that have been touched for one reason or another..

No, there's only the drivers air-bag in the steering wheel.:thumb2

Sounds a bit odd mate especially as it's got side air bags

I would be calling Nissan parts desk now and giving them the Reg, the should be able to tell you how it came out of the factory from the Nissan Mainframe system

My dash must have been changed for one reason or another.

Local auto elec fixed it by fitting a resistor to fool it into thinking an airbag is there. That way all my other systems work incase of an accident, aswell as no faults showing and light going on/ off as it should. Sorted!
